Scott and Joann Nuzum adopted 31 children, many with special needs. WTOL 11 covered their new home in Middleton Township as it was being built in 2002, partially thanks to generous donors. "Special needs" adoption includes sibling groups. Also, ~$13k federal tax break for each special needs kid that you can roll over for 5 years or until its gone. It also includes fun stuff like PTSD. I'm not going to denigrate people who do this. Sounds like many of their adopted kids became adults in a somewhat ok manner.
