Dallas Wings rookie guard Paige Bueckers has been placed under the WNBA's concussion protocol and will miss at least the next two games, the team announced on Friday. Bueckers sustained the injury during Thursday night's 97-92 loss to the Chicago Sky.The incident occurred late in the second quarter when Bueckers collided heads with Sky guard Courtney Vandersloot while driving to the basket. Despite the collision, she remained in the game, finishing with 15 points, eight assists, five rebounds, three steals, and three blocks over 36 minutes of play. As a result of the concussion, Bueckers will be sidelined for Saturday's home game against the Sky and Tuesday's road matchup against the Seattle Storm. Her status will be re-evaluated following the game in Seattle. Bueckers, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, has been a standout performer in her rookie season, averaging 14.7 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game. She leads the Wings in assists, steals (2.0), and blocks (1.0) while logging a team-high 34.0 minutes per game. Her presence has significantly impacted the Wings' fan engagement, with ticket sales reportedly increasing elevenfold since her arrival. The team even relocated a future game against the Indiana Fever to the larger American Airlines Center to accommodate the growing fanbase. Bueckers' injury is a setback for the Wings, who currently hold a 1-5 record. The team will look to regroup in her absence, with Tyasha Harris potentially stepping into the starting lineup, pending her recovery from a knee injury that kept her out of Thursday's game. The Wings' upcoming games include Saturday's rematch against the Sky and Tuesday's contest against the Storm. Bueckers' earliest possible return would be for the June 6 game against the Los Angeles Sparks, pending medical clearance.
