Dashcam Captures High-Speed Crash On Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway
@Source: news18.com
A dashcam video from the Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway has exposed yet another instance of reckless driving on Indian highways. The spine-chilling footage captures a high-speed collision between two cars. The video has raised concerns about road safety and the need for stricter traffic enforcement. Shared on X (formerly Twitter), the dashcam footage shows a speeding car on the expressway suddenly swerving to avoid a vehicle in front of it. While doing so, it crashes into another car in the next lane. The clip captures the intense impact and highlights how dangerous such high-speed driving can be. The post was shared with the caption, “Rear-end collision on Mysuru Expressway. A car crash occurred due to sudden braking on the high-speed Mysuru Expressway. Dashcam footage shows the moment of impact.” Watch Here: Rear-end collision on Mysuru Expressway A car crash occurred due to sudden braking on the high-speed Mysuru Expressway. The intense footage triggered a wave of online reactions, with many people expressing fear and frustration over how fast people drive on India’s expressways. A user commented, “At such speeds, there should be at least a five-second gap between vehicles. People don’t follow even basic defensive driving.” Another wrote, “India doesn’t need high-speed expressways. These roads are killing more people every year than even COVID did. Limit the speed to 60 km/hr and invest in freight trains instead.” “Must check the backside mirror of the cam before applying brakes on highways,” an individual said. Some viewers blamed the driver who was hit, arguing that the sudden lane change was risky and that they should have remained in the left lane. While viral videos like this often reignite public concern over road safety, data tells a more nuanced story. According to reports by Hindustan Times, fatal accidents on the Bengaluru–Mysuru Expressway dropped by over 50% in 2024 compared to the previous year, suggesting that, despite isolated incidents, overall safety may be improving. While such viral videos raise safety concerns, reports by Hindustan Times suggest a different trend. In 2024, the number of fatal accidents on the expressway decreased by over 50 per cent compared to the previous year. Experts attribute this decline to the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS), which enhances safety through real-time surveillance, speed monitoring, and rapid emergency response. Despite public fear over high-speed crashes, these measures appear to be making the expressway significantly safer, according to the report.
