David Strelec sees second Celtic transfer chance emerge as Slovan Bratislava chief makes price admission
@Source: dailyrecord.co.uk
There is still interest in long-term Celtic target David Strelec, according to Slovan Bratislava chief Ivan Kmotrík. And he admits that the Slovakia international may be available for less than the Hoops offered earlier this year, with Middlesbrough also tracking the hitman. Both Strelec and Celtic were left disappointed when a £7million offer was booted out in January. Slovan were holding out for £9million, but that proved too much for the Premiership champions, who opted to go with the striking options they had rather than spend money on a Kyogo replacement. Strelec made it known he was far from happy at being denied a move to Glasgow by refusing to celebrate a goal in his next match, while his dad publicly confirmed that the 24-year-old wanted the switch to happen. Strelec Sr hinted that the transfer could be reignited this summer, and now Slovan's chief executive Kmotrik has admitted the striker could be granted his wish to move in the close season. He said: "We took a risk with David. In the summer, maybe a slightly lower offer will come, it can happen. "But David didn't leave in the winter because we weren't ready for it. The offers were very good, but the really interesting ones came at the last minute. "We didn't have a transfer target to sign for the club that was ready, it would have been a patchwork move. "Today, I can't rule out whether he will stay or leave. There is still interest in him. "Compared to the winter, he will only be a few months older, his position has not deteriorated significantly. "Maybe the club will earn a little less, but he will be well prepared and will bring adequate compensation to the club."
