Kevin De Bruyne has admitted he was surprised to learn that his illustrious Manchester City career will come to an end at the end of the season.
The 33-year-old Belgian playmaker confirmed he will leave the Etihad Stadium this summer, drawing the curtain on a glittering nine-year spell in Manchester.

No contract offer despite late-season form
Despite returning from injury to deliver a string of impressive performances this season, De Bruyne revealed City did not table a new contract.
“I have not had any offer the whole year; they just made a decision,” he said after City’s 2-0 win at Everton on Saturday.
“Obviously, I was a bit surprised, but I just have to accept it. Honestly, I still think I can perform at this level like I’m showing, but I understand clubs have to make decisions.”
The Belgian acknowledged that City’s dip in form and his injury setbacks may have played a role in the club’s decision.
“Maybe if the team didn’t struggle and I came back like I did this year and bedded in like normal, then maybe they would take another decision.”
Future plans still undecided
De Bruyne remains focused on helping City secure a Champions League spot for next season but is keeping his options open regarding his next move. He has already been linked with a potential switch to Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States, although a stay in Europe or the Premier League remains on the table.
De Bruyne, who joined City from Wolfsburg in 2015, has been a cornerstone of the club’s historic success under manager Pep Guardiola, winning six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, five League Cups, and the UEFA Champions League in 2023 as part of a remarkable treble-winning campaign.
