Kadiff Kirwan is the latest actor to join the cast of Doctor Who for the new series beginning next month. The 36 year old actor, who played Aaron in Chewing Gum, Henri Dupre in a 2020 episode of Death In Paradise, and is Marcus in Slow Horses, will be joining Doctor Who stars Ncuti Gatwa and Varada Sethu in a new adventure. His role is currently a secret, but Kadiff has revealed a little of what to expect. “I feel elated to be joining the rich legacy of actors who have guest-starred in Doctor Who," he said. " Russell T Davies and [writer] Juno Dawson have truly outdone themselves with this episode in what I can only describe as an intergalactic gargantuan extravaganza." "It’s packed with gravity-defying mastery beyond imagination, and being a part of it is an absolute dream. Strap in Whovians, this one is gonna rock your world!” Showrunner Russell T Davies added: "We’re so lucky in Cardiff to open the doors to world-class talent, and it’s been a riot, getting to work with Kadiff. I’ve loved his work on TV and stage for a long time, so when we realised he was available and happy to come on board, that was truly a great day in the office!” The new series of Doctor Who will be the second to feature Ncuti Gatwa as the fifteenth Doctor , and it begins on 12 April. Kadiff isn't the only star to be announced for the new episodes, as it was revealed earlier this month that TV presenter Rylan Clark had landed a guest role for himself as the host of an outer space version of Eurovision called Interstellar Song Contest in one episode. Rylan , part of the BBC's regular presenting team for Eurovision , said: “As a massive Whovian, getting the call to be in Doctor Who was a call I’ve always dreamed of getting. The episode is all my favourite things about the show with an added song contest set in space." "It really is a dream come true. I can’t wait for everyone to see it. It is going to be out of this world .” Author Juno Dawson wrote the episode to tie-in with this year's real Eurovision Song Contest, and said: “It’s the most ridiculous episode they’ve ever done - and the most expensive .” She added: “I got to write the Doctor. There’s no limit to the imagination on the show. I think it’s the best show ever made. Just you wait. This episode is mahoosive.” Other guest stars this season include Kadiff's Slow Horses co-star Christopher Chung, who plays Roddy Ho on the hit spy drama, World on Fire's Jonah Hauer-King, French actress Julie Dray and Alan Cumming as the voice of cartoon character Mr Ring-a-Ding. Anita Dobson, who recently made a surprise return to EastEnders for the 40th anniversary , is back as Mrs Flood, and Jemma Redgrave will also return as UNIT chief Kate Lethbridge-Stewart.
