Star New Zealand batter Devon Conway has slammed his fourth half-century in ODI cricket. The Kiwi opener reached the mark in the Pakistan Tri-Series match against South Africa at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. Conway played an impactful knock as the Black Caps attempted to chase down 305. He found support from Kane Williamson, as the duo added 100-plus runs. However, Conway departed for 97(107). Conway added a 50-run opening stand with Will Young before the latter departed. The former, along with Williamson, made the run-chase a one-sided affair thereafter. They took NZ past 230 in less than 40 overs. While Williamson counter-attacked and completed his ton, Conway fell three runs short. He smacked a 107-ball 97 (9 fours and 1 six), wit Junior Dala ending his century bid. Conway, New Zealand's star opener across formats, has an incredible conversion rate in ODI cricket. He has converted five of his nine fifty-plus scores into centuries. With this knock against South Africa, Conway has raced past 1,300 runs (1,343) in the format. He has taken just 33 ODIs for the same. Conway has an average of over 46 in the format.
