Three-time World Series champion and current free agent pitcher Joe Kelly has never been shy about speaking his mind.He's also not shy about doubling down.This week, on the "Baseball Isn't Boring" podcast, the Los Angeles Dodgers' free agent pitcher addressed the comments from New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone, who appeared to call him out for his trash talk after the World Series.More news: Former Yankees, Cubs All-Star Free Agent Acknowledges His Career Could Be OverKelly was one of multiple Dodgers who called the Yankees out after the World Series, saying on the "Baseball Isn't Boring" podcast back in November:"We were saying it every single game, just let them throw the ball to the infield," Kelly said. "They can't make a play. I mean, you saw, Shohei (Ohtani) got an extra base going to third on a sloppy Gleyber (Torres) play. It's well known. We all knew."... It was just a mismatch from the get go. Like if we had a playoff re-ranking, they might be ranked 8th- or 9th-best playoff team."Boone took offense to Kelly's comments, as well as the comments from a few other players."They won," Boone said on the "Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata Show" last month. "They had that right. A couple of people like saying some things. It's like, 'See what you did this year?'"Like, it wasn't the Freddie Freemans and Shoheis and Mookies popping off. "Hopefully, we're in that position next year and handle things with a little more class."This week, Kelly was able to respond to Boone, and didn't mince words."He's just so hurt. It's so sad," Kelly said on the Baseball Isn't Boring podcast. "When your fearless leader has fear it's a little tough to see. Feelings are hurt."Kelly also took the time to take another jab about the Yankees' lack of fundamentals in the World Series, especially noting the play in which Gerrit Cole didn't cover first base in the notorious fifth inning."I wonder how ground balls are going. PFPs (pitcher's fielding practice), ground balls, the little things," Kelly said. "I got (my son) Knox's nine-year-old travel team, first move after a ground ball to the right side, all of them are breaking. Every single one of them. Kids that pitch once a week know to get over. They're nine. Not one of them forgets to get over. I promise you. I know who does forget to get over, and it's not the nine-year-olds."Kelly is currently a free agent.
