The Fijian Drua was totally dominated in the breakdown in their 5-34 thrashing to the Blues at the HFC Bank Stadium, Suva, last Friday.
Team captain Mesake Doge said the Drua would need to learn at a faster rate on how to combat the tactics of the opposition when it comes to tough matches.
“Sometimes it comes down to being vigilant around the breakdown, they (Blues) are being technical on that compared to us,” the veteran tighthead prop said.
“There is no backing out, like I said to the boys one game at a time.”
Doge indicated that the team remains to be resilient despite a tough season, which sees them in the last position of the Super Rugby Pacific points table standings with 15 points.
“It’s never giving up, we’ll come again, again and again regardless of what’s happened for us this season,” Doge reiterated.
“It’s very important for our character and we know it didn’t happen like we planned but we must rise and rise again.”
Drua head coach Glen Jackson said they would need to be better in the breakdown in their next match against the Western Force.
“We’ve got certain areas that we need to be smart on field, and we all know how we want to play,” he said.
“In terms of the fans, they understand the style of rugby we want to play and continue to support the boys. I know the effort they put in to make this country proud.”
The Drua hosts Western Force at Churchill Park in Lautoka this Saturday.
