Doha Islamic Finance Conference Explores Innovations, Future Trends Tuesday

Doha, April 01 (QNA) - The 11th Doha Islamic Finance Conference, set to take place in Doha on Tuesday, April 8, will bring together specialists in Islamic finance, representatives of government bodies, international organizations, financial institutions, and academics in the fields of economics, finance, and technology. Participants in the conference will explore the latest developments and innovative ideas, with a focus on future trends at the local, regional, and global levels to advance Islamic finance and analyze the future of the Islamic financial industry. The event aims to enhance global dialogue among experts, researchers, and decision-makers while exploring opportunities presented by modern technologies to develop innovative solutions that contribute to the sustainability and resilience of the Islamic financial sector. Held under the theme "Integration of Blockchain and AI: The Future of Islamic Finance," the conference is organized by Bait Al-Mashura Finance Consultations, with the official sponsorship of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the strategic partnership of Dukhan Bank, the diamond sponsorship of the General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, and the bronze sponsorship of the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC). In a statement on Tuesday, Bait Al-Mashura Finance Consultations announced that Secretary General of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy Prof. Dr. Koutoub Moustapha Sano will deliver a keynote speech at the opening session, alongside esteemed speakers including HE Executive Board Member and Managing Director of Dukhan Bank Sheikh Muhammed bin Hamad bin Jassim Al-Thani, HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Sheikh Dr. Khalid bin Muhammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani, and Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee of Doha Islamic Finance Conference Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti. According to the conference agenda, Prof. Dr. Abdul Qader Jeddi, Professor of Fiqh and its Principles at Qatar University's College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, will discuss decentralized artificial intelligence in deriving Shari'ah rulings and determining legal outcomes. Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Arbitration Centre in Turkiye Dr. Umar A. Oseni will examine the legal framework for integrating blockchain and AI in Islamic banking. Dr. Mourad Boudaia, Professor of Fiqh and its Principles at Qatar University's College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, and Dr. Mourad Ouzzani, Research Director at the Qatar Computing Research Institute at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, will explore the applications of blockchain and AI integration in enhancing Shari'ah compliance within Islamic banking. Additionally, Dr. Mohamed Sharif Bashir Sharif, Professor of Economics at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Saudi Arabia, will highlight the role of decentralized AI in improving the efficiency of Islamic banks. Dr. Mohamed El Gammal, Professor of Fiqh at the College of Islamic Studies at Hamad bin Khalifa University, will address the Shari'ah rulings on managing smart endowments, while Representative of UNHCR for GCC and Special Advisor to the High Commissioner for Global Islamic Charitable Initiatives Dr. Khaled Khalifa will discuss decentralized smart applications for enhancing rapid response to humanitarian crises and disasters. Dr. Othman Saeed Houran, Professor of Fiqh and Islamic Sciences at Yalova University in Turkiye, will speak on the protection of endowments through decentralized AI systems. Meanwhile, Hamid Rashid, Founder of Finterra in Malaysia, will explore the role of blockchain and AI in the development of waqf (Islamic endowment) products. Dr. Noora Fetais, Founding Secretary General of the Arab Association for Cyber Security and Associate Professor of Computer Science at Qatar University, will highlight the role of AI and blockchain integration in ensuring security and privacy in financial transactions. Additionally, Dr. Mohammed Al Afandi, Professor of Economics at Sana'a University in Yemen, will discuss decentralized Islamic finance based on value chains. (QNA)
