You know the Miami Dolphins’ situation at cornerback is dire when they just signed their 3rd cornerback in about 72 hours. Miami signed veteran cornerback Mike Hilton.
Hilton is 31 years old and has played the past few seasons in Cincinnati primarily as a nickel cornerback. Why is that important? Because Kader Kohou went down to an injury today at camp and had to leave practice, and he is Miami’s nickel back. We don’t know yet how serious that injury is, but if it’s serious, Hilton may be here to replace him.
Hilton went undrafted in 2016 and has played for Jacksonville, New England, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati.
Last year for Cincinnati, he played in 16 games, started 10, and had one interception. He has 13 career interceptions.
Hilton’s PFF grades last year were that he had an overall grade of 75.9, ranking him 24th out of 222 cornerbacks. A coverage grade of 68.5, ranking him 55th out of 222 cornerbacks. And a run defense grade of 91.7, ranking 1st out of 222 cornerbacks.
He has played in 123 games and started 56 of them.
