@Source: timesnownews.com
Mitchell Starc will achieve a huge milestone in his career when he takes the field against West Indies in the third and final Test of the series in Jamaica. The left-arm pacer will don the prestigious Baggy Green for the 100th time in his career. Starc, who made his Test debut back in 2011, will become only the second Australian pacer after Glenn McGrath to play 100 Tests for the country. Starc stayed away from franchise cricket for many years to keep himself fit. Starc, who played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2015 and 2016, pulled out of IPL 2017. He did join Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2018 but an injury kept him out of the season. The left-arm pacer made his much-awaited return to IPL with Kolkata Knight RIders in IPL 2024. He joined Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2025 mega-auction. He missed out on crores of rupees by staying away from IPL for many years. Does Starc regret his decision to skip IPL? Speaking to the media before his 100th Test, Starc said that he doesn't regret missing franchise cricket for Test cricket. "Test cricket was probably the hardest format to either feel like I was good enough for or felt like I was capable of doing. To get that opportunity, I wasn't going to let that pass at all. The years that I did miss franchise cricket, I don't regret that at all," he said. "To get my body in as good a spot as I could for Australia to play 99 games, spend some time at home, spend some time with Alyssa [Healy] and family. That's the reason why I did those things." Starc has 395 wickets in 99 Tests. He is just 5 wickets short of the 400-mark. A member of Australia's 2015 World Cup-winning team, Starc has also won the T20 World Cup. He won the IPL 2024 trophy with KKR upon his return to the T20 league.
