'Don't Talk About My Favourite Chole-Bhature Place': Virat Kohli Wants Broadcasters To Focus On Cricket

Virat Kohli wants the broadcasters to stop talking about his lunch. And his favourite chole-bhature place in Delhi. The India batting superstar doesn’t seem to be a fan of broadcasters discussing his favourite cuisines or eateries. He would rather have them focus on the game and what an athlete might be going through. “A broadcast show needs to talk about the game and not what I ate yesterday for lunch or my favourite chole-bhature place in Delhi. You can’t have that in cricket matches. Rather, you could talk about what an athlete is going through,” Kohli said at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit. Kohli is one of the fittest cricketers with his dedication to maintaining fitness often compared to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Novak Djokovic. The 36-year-old reportedly follows a strict regimen and seldom digs into his favourite food in order to remain in top shape. The batting maestro is nearing the end of his playing career but he’s not going to retire anytime soon. “Don’t get nervous. I’m not making any announcements. As of now everything is fine. I still love playing the game,” Kohli said. The former India captain says he will not quit cricket till the time he continues to love and enjoy the game. Kohli, winner of four ICC titles winning Indian teams at the senior level, is chuffed to bits at the return of cricket in Olympics. And he feels that IPL has played a major role in making that a possibility. Cricket is part of the Los Angeles Games in 2028. “To be Olympic champion would be an absolutely magnificent feeling. The IPL has definitely played a massive role in that as well. Now, it has gotten us to a stage where it’s part of the Olympics. It’s a great opportunity for some of our guys,” Kohli said. “The athletes will be able to taste it. First of its kind. And I’m sure we’ll be somewhere close to that medal. Both men and women play side by side as well,” he added. Kohli, who quite T20Is last year, though quips he might be willing to reconsider retirement if India end up qualifying for the gold medal match. “For the Olympics, I don’t know, maybe, if we are playing for the gold medal. I just might sneak in for one game, get a medal and come back home. But I think it’s a great thing for the sport, overall,” Kohli said.
