@Source: manchestereveningnews.co.uk
Dubai Airport has issued an update for passengers after it reopened following a temporary closure on Monday evening. Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait temporarily closed their air spaces when Iran fired missiles at a US military base in the country. Both Doha and Dubai airports temporarily closed, causing major disruption as both of these serve as major travel hubs, welcoming nearly 400,000 passengers each day. Dubai Airports said that they have reopened after a “precautionary pause” but warned that some flights could continue to “experience delays or cancellations”. In a post on X, the Dubai Media Office said: “Dubai Airports has resumed full operations at its airports in the emirate following a temporary precautionary pause. “The safety and wellbeing of all travellers and aviation staff remain the highest priority. “While Dubai Airports is working with airlines to ensure flights operate according to schedule, some flights may experience delays or cancellations. “Travellers are advised to stay informed by checking regularly with their airlines for the latest updates.” Elsewhere in the UAE, Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi urged passengers to check with their airlines before heading to the airport. In a statement on X, the airport said: “The safety of our travellers is our foremost priority. As of 24 June 2025, in light of current events and flight disruptions, Abu Dhabi Airports advises all passengers to check with their airlines before heading to the airport.” Travel disruption in the Middle East escalated after a US missile strike on Sunday, June 22, followed by the retaliation by Iran on June 23. Several airlines have adjusted their flight operations and have warned passengers of disruption. Emirates said that it will “continue to operate flights as scheduled” after a “thorough risk assessment” using “flight paths well distanced from conflict areas”. It added: “Some flights may incur delays due to longer re‑routings or airspace congestion, but Emirates' teams are working hard to keep to schedule and minimise any disruption or inconvenience to our customers.” Following the reopening of Qatar airspace, Qatar Airways said: “As usual operations resume, we anticipate significant delays to our flight schedule. We would advise passengers to check qatarairways.com or the Qatar Airways mobile application ahead of travel. "The safety of our passengers and crew remains our highest priority.” For more of today's top stories, click here.
