Eagles Owner Jeffrey Lurie Hints at Nick Sirianni Contract Extension
@Source: newsweek.com
While it is normal for a Super Bowl champion to be featured in the news heavily during the NFL offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles are currently dominating the current news cycle on the back of the owners' meetings. The tush push has been the primary talk of the league as of late.More news: Wild Mock Draft Has Browns Landing Abdul Carter and Shedeur SandersAs much talk as there has been about whether it should be banned or not, people are heaping praise on the Eagles and their coaching staff for perfecting a play to the point people want it banned.That is a big reason Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie seems to want to extend head coach Nick Sirianni.The tush push is not only a dominant play, but a huge part of the team's identity under Sirianni.The team has been most successful when their offensive line is the best in football and they pound the rock, whether through quarterback Jalen Hurts or whoever is at running back, which was amplified by the team acquiring star back Saquon Barkley last offseason.Along with helping to form a clear identity, Sirianni has been a historically good coach. He is the only head coach in the last forty years to make the playoffs each of his first four seasons and make two Super Bowls.He also managed to conquer his biggest demon, avenging his previous Super Bowl loss to the Kansas Chiefs in dominant fashion.Despite losing multiple key free agents, the Eagles are still in a great position to try and repeat as champions and are in great hands with their front office, ownership, and coaching staff.The Eagles have become known for snagging great values in the draft over the past few years, so they should have no problem replenishing some of the talent they lost. The real question seemingly will be how long it will take to develop them rather than if they are good or not.With a Sirianni extension, the Eagles can maintain this great culture and leadership for years to come. While it isn't official yet, it will be interesting to see the numbers for a Sirianni contract extension when it happens. He is still a young and relatively new coach but has shown he deserves to be paid like a top coach in the NFL.Even if the tush push gets banned when a final decision is made, Nick Sirianni should at least have something good come out the NFL owners' meetings.More NFL news:NFL Analyst Gives Insight Into Which Position Travis Hunter Should Play in NFLMyles Garrett Hints at Who Browns Should Take in NFL DraftNFL Mock Draft 2025 3.0: Updated Prediction of the Entire First Round
