EastEnders fans baffled as character 'goes missing' after 'poorly handled' story

EastEnders fans have expressed their confusion by a character going missing from the programme after what they called a 'poorly handled' story. The BBC soap is continuing to pick up the pieces from the 40th anniversary week last month, which saw the deaths of Martin Fowler and Reiss Colwell. Since the intense week of drama, many of the plotlines seen have continued, including Phil being in a mental health unit, Sonia being a mum to baby Julia and Nigel battling dementia . However, one story that hasn't had much screentime is the love trianglebetween Denise Fox, Jack Branning and Ravi Gulati, which was put to an end by a fan vote. In a historic first for EastEnders , viewers decided that Denise should reunite with her estranged husband Jack Branning instead of pursuing a fresh start with secret lover Ravi Gulati. Denise and Jack tied the knot in 2021, initially getting together in 2019, but split last year after Jack had an affair with his late nephew Bradley's former wife Stacey. While Jack was there for Denise when she was struggling with her role in the murder of Keanu, recent months saw her begin to fall for drug dealer Ravi. However, with Ravi being a bad boy and having been in a relationship with Denise's daugther Chelsea, fans couldn't bring themselves to crown him the winner. Since the result was revealed in the special live episode, there has been no major progress made in the story, with the three characters all doing different minor things. With the trio only appearing sparingly over the last month, EastEnders fan @random-opinions445 took to the show's Reddit page with a post titled 'where is Denise' to share their frustration. "I know many people in this community don’t like Jack and Denise but the follow up after the dramatic love triangle vote has been soo poor! Idk if she has even given Ravi closure because she hasn’t been on our screens for a while and we haven’t actually seen Jack and Denise back together except for the quick announcement," they said. The comments section of the post saw many users in agreement, questioning why the story was built up not to be followed up on. @ Last-Guy-Alive said: "She's deeply upset that you people put her with Jack instead of Ravi and now she's got to pretend this is actually what she wants." @IAmTheBornReborn joked: "She's in Tesco standing between the Weetabix and Cornflakes waiting for people to vote for which choice she is going to make." @westender95 wrote: "Correct! Poorly handled. Doesn't really get people invested if we can't see why they should be together in the first place.." @Fluid-Goal4129 argued: "She has had too much screentime latley so I don't really care to see her right now." @No_Sprinkles_9214 pointed out: "I'd imagine they couldn't film too many scenes with her with either Jack or Ravi until they had the results of the vote. Otherwise, they'd be doing 2 shots of every scene depending on who it was / what family was there." @Appropriate_Ad_8152 posted: "She was always going to need to take a break. stuff is filmed in advance and they could hardly have filmed two lots of all her scenes ahead of the vote & it would be weird to have her in with no mention of either." As mentioned by one of the Reddit users, EastEnders is filmed months in advance, making it extremely difficult for the show's creative team to make two versions of the same story. However, we're sure it won't be too long until Denise is back in the salon and moving forward with Jack like their supporters showed they wanted.
