Joe Absolom starred in the BBC drama back from 1997 to 2000 as Matthew Rose, a character who was framed for the murder of Saskia Duncan (Deborah Sheridan-Taylor) in 1999. Eventually, it was revealed Steve Owen (Martin Kemp) was responsible and Matthew was released. The complicated character sought out revenge on Steve and then never returned to Walford again. Joe has since starred in a range of shows, including ITV's Doc Martin where he played Al Large. More recently, he has been spotted in the broadcaster's new crime drama, Code Of Silence, which premiered on Sunday (May 18). He's a far cry from his previous boyish visage and mousy middle-parting, with his salt and pepper locks giving him a decidedly more rugged look.
