It has been the same old story for the Fijian Drua after their 20-43 loss to the Highlanders in the Super Rugby Pacific clash in Dunedin on Saturday night.
It was a match the Drua should have won if it was not for their indiscipline, taking wrong options, poor handling, aimless kicking and beaten to the breakdown time and again.
This has been the same story especially in their earlier away matches against the Hurricanes, NSW Waratahs and ACT Brumbies.
Now what’s going to change when they face the Waratahs in Lautoka, this Saturday?
It’s time for the Drua coaches and players to forget about finishing in the top six, when they are at the bottom of the Super Rugby points table.
They’ve got to be realistic and stop putting unnecessary pressure on the players.
For the Glen Jackson-coached side, it’s a matter of making things simple and achievable.
The focus should not be on a top six finish but to win their next game, which is against the Waratahs.
Go for a win, as simple as that.
The Drua has got to find their winning mojo and when they do, it’s a matter of being consistent with it, as they take one game at a time. With those wins, then their position on the points table will take care of itself.
The Drua has six more matches remaining before teams to qualify for the play-offs are decided. The competition is still far from over.
The onus is on the Drua to learn from what have gone wrong and they should go out to record their second win against the Waratahs at Churchill Park, this Saturday.
