England fans will go on a £200m booze, burgers and betting bonanza for Euros final

England fans will blow a staggering £200m on a booze, burgers and betting bonanza this weekend as they cheer on the Lionesses to make football history. Sarina Wiegman’s superstars’ edge-of-the-seat antics have captured the nation’s hearts like never before. England will grind to a halt at 5pm on Sunday for the Euro 25 final against Spain in Switzerland. A quarter of the nation is expected to watch the match. Thousands more forked out fortunes on eleventh-hour dashes to Basel in hope of getting last minute tickets for the match at the 38,500-capacity St. Jakob-Park stadium. Finance chiefs say the fever pitch frenzy surrounding the clash - a repeat of the 2023 World Cup final which England lost - will spark a cash meltdown that will pump hundreds of millions into under-fire Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ crumbling coffers. Fans are expected to spend £184m on food, booze and football party essentials ready to celebrate a Lioness victory. They would become the first England team ever to win a major football tournament on foreign soil and to defend an international title - and would eclipse the men by boasting two major trophies to the Three Lions' solitary 1966 World Cup. According to retail analyst VoucherCodes.co.uk fans will blow almost £100m on matchday booze and BBQs. Another £6.8m will go down on replica Lioness kits which are selling out fast. Supporters will shell out £5m on official England merchandise and £2.6m on flags and decorations to kit out their homes. Even electric stores have felt Lioness fever with fans spending £1.3m on new TVs to watch the action. On top of that bookies say betting records will be smashed as a new wave of punters show their support for the team by placing first-time bets. According to finance chiefs the excitement stems from the prospect of an ‘epic re-match’ of the World Cup final - plus the Lionesses’ never-say-die antics at the tournament. They were written off before a ball was kicked when top stars Mary Earps, Millie Bright and Fran Kirby pulled out in the three weeks beforehand. Earps and Kirby retired while Bright said she could not handle it ‘mentally or physically’. England lost their opening group match to France - then had to come from 2-0 down to beat Sweden in a rollercoaster penalty shootout in the quarter-finals. Star defender Jess Carter missed the semi after suffering vile racial abuse. Then they beat Italy thanks to a goal from a saved penalty in the last minute of extra time - after teen sensation Michelle Agyemang equalised in the last minute of normal time. Even cool-headed boss Sarina reckons their achievements could become a 'movie'. A VoucherCodes spokesman said the drama had pushed interest in the Lionesses into the stratosphere. Its analysts predict supporters will splash out £184m on food, drink and other party essentials ‘ready to celebrate the big match in style in hopes that the Lionesses can bring it home’. A spokesman went on: “Excitement across the UK is hitting new highs with consumer spending forecast to exceed all other tournament matches. Retail is set to score big from the final with £113m to be spent online and in-stores. During the final alone a staggering £70.8m is expected to be splurged in hospitality venues.” The company’s savings expert Zoe Morris added: “After some tense viewing the Lionesses aim to make history yet again with spending figures showing just how much this moment means to fans. The nation is ready to celebrate. “The final is set to be the most viewed game of the summer with consumer spending dramatically increasing for both retail and hospitality.” Zoe said with ‘smart planning’ there were ‘plenty of ways to make a watch party memorable without breaking the bank’. She added: “Share the load with friends and family by getting everyone to bring a dish, dig out old England merch, and keep the drinks chilled at home – you’ll still score a night to remember.” Bookmakers said they expect to see ‘millions’ bet on the final - smashing all records. John Hill, of Coral, said: “This is going to be the biggest women's football match in history in betting terms with millions set to be punted with British bookmakers. England are the underdogs and we expect the patriot support behind them to continue ahead of the final.” World Cup winners Spain are 2-5 odds-on favourites while reigning European champions England are 7-4 to repeat their success. Analysts said the entire tournament has given the UK economy an £801m shot in the arm with retail sales up £566.4m and a £234.6m injection for the hospitality sector.
