Enzo Maresca's key decision that leaves Chelsea one game from Club World Cup glory
@Source: dailystar.co.uk
Chelsea are one game away from silverware after they vanquished Fluminense in the inaugural Club World Cup . Enzo Maresca's side bested a Fluminense team that has thrilled with their run to the semi-finals stateside. However, it was a familiar face, Joao Pedro , who was their undoing during a sweltering afternoon at the MetLife Stadium. Pedro had his big break at Fluminense, coming through their ranks to make his professional debut in 2019 before moving to Watford the following year. The Brazilian would move to Chelsea from Brighton this summer - and the deal already looks like a masterstroke. Pedro's first goal was the pick of the bunch, after a poor clearance, the ball fell to the Chelsea star 20-yards out from goal. He picked up his head and curled it into the far corner. Fluminense thought they had the chance to get back into the game from the spot, but VAR overturned the penalty. Instead, in the second half, Pedro would double up and again refuse to celebrate against his boyhood side. "Back to back insanely amazing strikes by Joao Pedro. The signing is paying off," one fan posted. "Joao Pedro is the only difference in this game. Good signing for Chelsea," a second said. While a third shared: "Joao Pedro is going to be a generational talent for Chelsea…Superb signing!" And another added: "Joao Pedro will be signing of the season. Bloke is sensational and I will die on that hill!" All eyes will now turn to the second semi-final, also taking place at the MetLife Stadium in New York, between PSG and Real Madrid - with the winner advancing to the final to take on Chelsea. PSG and Real have both impressed in America this summer - however, so have Chelsea, who have bounced back from a sub-par end to the season under Maresca.
