Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Chelsea on April 26
How Everton Have Lined Up
Manager David Moyes has kept the same lineup for Everton’s previous two fixtures. The backline consisting of James Tarkowski and Jarrad Braithwaite in the centre has played almost all league games together. Behind them, Jordan Pickford has yet to miss a league match as well. Jake O’Brien has become a makeshift right back under Moyes and Vitaliy Mykolenko.
James Garner has rejoined Idrissa Gueye in the middle after being omitted from the starting lineup for Tim Iroegbunam. In front of the duo at the base of midfield, Abdoulaye Doucoure plays in the drop-forward role.
Iliman Ndiaye has continued his impressive form on the left wing ,while Jack Harrison has started on the right. Loanee Armando Broja has got the nod as the starting striker over Beto in the last two games.
Everton’s Recent Form and Tactics
The Toffees’ 2-0 defeat to Manchester City was just their second loss in 14 games. That form has made them mathematically safe from relegation, and they currently sit 13th in the Premier League table.
Goal scoring has been an issue of late, they have found the back of the net just three times in the last five matches. The early blitz of goals under Moyes has dried up and chances have been harder to create.
Attacking on the counter is their best way forward as they average just 41% possession for the season. Everton will often look to go through Ndiaye, who is their best attacking outlet. The other way they create most of their chances is through pressing high up the field. A method that has not been as effective recently due to coming up against higher-quality teams.
The 4-2-3-1 formation that they start in will often shift to 4-4-2 or 5-2-2-1 in defence depending on the situation.
Everton Injuries To Consider
In this week’s press conferencepress conference, Moyes confirmed the availability of the first team squad. James Tarkowski is likely out for the season after suffering a hamstring injury against City. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is near to returning to first-team training from his ongoing hamstring issues.
