Every Unexpected Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet Moment in Meghan Markle's Netflix Show
@Source: people.com
Meghan Markle's new lifestyle series With Love, Meghan includes several nods to her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, frequently referenced her young children in her new show, which premiered on Netflix on March 4 after a delay from January due to the Los Angeles wildfires. Though Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, don't officially make a cameo in the eight-episode series, Meghan spoke about her kids several times as she cooked, crafted and created alongside friends new and old in With Love, Meghan.
While Prince Harry and Meghan are raising their children outside of the spotlight in Montecito, California, she spoke about Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet's personalities and preferences in her new show, as well as how they have inspired her creative endeavors.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Meghan opened up about having her children on set during filming.
"I loved that my children were able to watch me working and see the balance of that and understand what Mama does and is working to create and share," she says. "It was really special because up until then, they hadn’t seen me at work.”
Read on for everything the Duchess of Sussex said about her two kids in With Love, Meghan on Netflix.
Prince Archie
In episode two, Meghan shows Mindy Kaling how to make a balloon arch and says she learned how to make one for Archie's first birthday. Elsewhere in the episode, the Duchess of Sussex tells her friend and fellow mom, "We grow golden berries at home, my son loves them."
Meghan brought up Archie again in conversation with her friend Delfina Blaquier in episode four of With Love, noting that her young son has the same patience for making "sun tea" as she did when she was a kid.
"Sun tea is something I've been making for a very long time. I made it as a kid and now I make it with my own kids," the Duchess of Sussex said, explaining how to insert loose leaf tea in bags and steep in the sun in a jar to create "sun tea." Her go-to type of tea for the recipe? Hibiscus!
"As a kid I was taking a bag of tea from the drawer in my house and putting it in a mason jar or probably an empty jar that once held spaghetti sauce and putting it in the sun and sitting there like this… waiting for it to change color. Which, funny enough, is what Archie does now," Meghan told Blaquier, who is married to Prince Harry's friend Nacho Figueras.
Later in the series, the Duchess of Sussex told longtime pals Abigail Spencer and Kelly McKee Zajfen about how she learned flower arranging at the New York City baby shower her friends threw in 2019 when she was expecting Archie.
"I learned a lot of this when I was pregnant with my son Archie. My girlfriends threw a baby shower for me, and one of the things we did was learn flower arranging," Meghan said in episode five. "I started to find this really calming and really meditative, and so when I have a little bit of time at the end of the day, I do this, have a glass of wine and just enjoy it," the Duchess of Sussex said.
The flower fun wasn't the only activity connected to the little prince that the trio attempted together. Meghan also showed her pals how to salt bake a fish and explained that she did it last summer when Archie caught a trout during a family vacation.
"Do you remember last year when I went on a family vacation and I told you Archie caught two fish? Like, what are we going to do with this fish?" Meghan told her friends. "So we just did a big salt-baked fish. I had two kids and we had two trout. I was like, we are going to salt bake a fish because it would be fun for them. They loved it. It was very sweet."
Prince Archie was also involved in the harvest basket that Meghan prepared for her friend Vicky Tsai as a welcome gesture following her move to Montecito. Meghan curated a gift basket including eggs from Archie's "Chick Inn" coop that the family keeps at home in Montecito, and surprised the Tatcha founder with the basket in episode seven when they spent time together.
Archie's Chick Inn got another shout out in episode eight, when Meghan told farm to table pioneer and With Love guest Alice Waters about her son's chicken coop.
"I think what’s really cool is with whatever is going on in life, to be able to do something like this, it’s just fun. It's fun for kids and for adults," she said about the shared project.
Princess Lilibet
Meghan made an adorable revelation about Princess Lilibet in episode three with celebrity chef Roy Choi: her daughter is a dancer!
As the Duchess of Sussex and the restaurateur made his signature wings together and bonded about growing up in Los Angeles, Meghan said that Lilibet is known to do a little dance when she enjoys what she is eating.
"It’s good. My daughter does the same thing. When she likes something she’s eating, she starts to sway a little bit," the Duchess of Sussex said. Lilibet recently appeared in Meghan's Instagram Stories on Valentine's Day and helped mom Meghan prepare red swirl bagels with pink spread.
Meghan also revealed the certain color Lilibet likes during a stop at a flower shop to pick up supplies for a centerpiece she was making for a brunch.
"First thing I do is see what color I gravitate to, and then everything goes from there," the Duchess of Sussex said in episode five, later mentioning, "It’s just a lot of pink, though Lili would love that."
Meghan shared another tidbit about Lili when she remarked that her daughter invented a song to make cleaning easier.
"Clean as you go, Lili has made a song out of it. 'Clean as you go, clean, clean, clean, clean, clean as you go,' " she revealed. The insight into Princess Lilibet's personality calls back to a similar comment Meghan made while visiting a kindergarten class in Nigeria during her trip there with Prince Harry in May 2024, when she told the students that her daughter's "favorite class" was "singing and dancing."
While spending time with Spencer, her former Suits co-star, and McKee Zajfen, a longtime friend and the co-founder of the Alliance of Moms, Meghan said that she hopes to instill an interest in cooking in her children and that they have " these great formative memories of being there with me."
"Lili got a doll that was, I don’t remember who gave it to her, the other day. The doll has a little baguette and a little cheese, and the name of the doll is Stella Al Fresco," she said.
Meghan also spoke about the bond she and Lilibet share around preparing strawberry preserves in the fifth episode of her namesake show. While catching up with Spencer and McKee Zajfen, Meghan said that she made her most recent batch of preserves with Lili.
"She picked all the berries. She’s proud and that part feels good," Meghan said about bringing her daughter into the activity, as the camera panned to a picture of the little princess' hands picking berries.
Jam was revealed as the first product from Meghan's lifestyle company American Riviera Orchard last year and she sent the spread to friends including Spencer and McKee Zajfen. Meghan has since renamed her brand As Ever and promised followers in a Feb. 18 Instagram video that "jam was my jam," remaining through the relaunch.
"As ever essentially means as it’s always been, and if you’ve followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I’ve always loved cooking and crafting and gardening — this is what I do," she said in the selfie-style video that included a cameo by Harry.
"And I haven’t been able to share it with you in the same way for the past few years, but now I can, so as things are starting to trickle out there, I wanted you to hear it from me first," she explained. "Of course, there will be fruit preserves; I think we’re all clear at this point that jam is my jam. But there are so many more products that I just love, and now it's time to share them with you. So I just can’t wait for you to see it. Thanks, guys!"
