The Fiji Airways flight departed Sydney International Airport on Monday afternoon and arrived at Nadi International Airport later that evening. The shell casing was reportedly discovered in an overhead compartment during the flight. It's understood the shell casing did not originate in Australia, but was already on board the inbound flight when it arrived in Sydney from Nadi. Firearms and ammunition are strictly prohibited on Fiji Airways flights, in accordance with the airline's dangerous goods policy. How the bullet casing was taken on board remains under investigation by Fiji Police. 'Confirming the report of the discovery of a shell casing in an overhead compartment of a plane that arrived in to the country at the international airport,' a police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia on Tuesday. Fiji Airways has been contacted in relation to the incident. It comes after a Fiji Airways flight from Sydney recently made headlines after four people were injured during horror turbulence on the way to Nadi. The passengers were treated by medical staff upon arrival at the airport. 'Fiji Airways takes the safety and well-being of its guests and crew very seriously and regrets the occurrence of this event,' Fiji Airways said in a statement.
