Explained: How LSG Can Qualify For IPL 2025 Playoffs After Losing 5 Out Of 10 Matches Played So Far
@Source: news18.com
Lucknow Super Giants suffered an embarrassing defeat by 54 runs against Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2025 match played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Lucknow-based franchise was asked to chase down the target of 216 runs in 20 overs by Hardik Pandya’s men, but they could only manage to score 161 runs in 20 overs for the loss of all 10 wickets. The second defeat in eight IPL matches played so far against the Mumbai Indians has put LSG’s chances of qualifying for the IPL 2025 playoffs in danger now.
With 10 points after 10 matches, LSG are sixth in the points table. For them to keep their chances alive of finishing in the top four and qualifying for the playoffs, they have to win at least three of their remaining four league matches. Three wins will help them wind up the league stage campaign with 16 points, and that might prove enough to finish in the top four.
If LSG win all four upcoming matches, then with 18 points, they will also have a high chance of finishing in the top two and feature in the first qualifier, which is scheduled to take place at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
But if LSG win only two more matches, then they will finish with 14 points, and that might not prove enough for them to progress to the playoffs this year.
