By Obaloluwa Joshua, LAGOS Holders Manchester United were knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup after a 4-3 penalty shootout defeat to Fulham. The fifth round tie ended 1-1 after 120 minutes. Calvin Bassey gave Fulham the lead with a powerful header late in the first half. The Whites caught United’s defence flat-footed from Andreas Pereira’s corner to strike first blood seconds before halftime, with Rodrigo Muniz nodding on for Bassey to head home. Captain Bruno Fernandes equalised for United 19 minutes from time. The Portuguese slammed the ball home inside the 18-yard box after a superb Diogo Dalot’s cross. Fulham converted all four penalties with the hosts scoring only two.
