(KTLA) A flight from Los Angeles to Florida turned into a frightening midair emergency for Australian golf legend Greg Norman when his private jet was forced to turn around and make an emergency landing at LAX last week.
The 70-year-old World Golf Hall of Famer shared a post on Instagram with a photo of a cracked windshield on the aircraft.
He says the jet had just begun its journey from LAX to Palm Beach International Airport when there was a “loud pop.”
“Only the second time in 40 years of private travel,” he wrote on his Instagram post. “Returned to LAX to the professionals to make sure all ok. Thanks all.”
Norman and the two pilots on board were not hurt. He also shared a photo of himself posing with airport emergency personnel.
In an exclusive interview with Australian Golf Digest, Norman said, “It’s certainly not my first rodeo with events like this… The last (midair emergency) I had was in my plane climbing at 30,000 feet and BANG! we dived to about 10,000 feet and slowed down.”
