‘Faster than life’ – Watch Bono’s emotional tribute to Formula One’s ‘Irish royalty’ Eddie Jordan

EDDIE Jordan has been remembered as 'faster than life' itself in an emotionally wrought tribute video narrated by Bono.
The U2 frontman contributed to a beautiful memorial that was aired as part of Channel 4's coverage of the Chinese Grand Prix.
A montage of Jordan down through the years was soundtracked not only by Bono's voice but the music to their hit 'Where the Streets Have No Name'.
Throughout, the singer salutes Jordan for having quite the voice himself.
Among the standout lines, Bono underlines: "Eddie Jordan...EJ...Faster than life...will never die around anyone who loves racing.
"The gift from the Gods with the gift of the gab. A heart as big as his mouth and that mouth was large."
He later concludes: "Living for love, laughter, noise, speed and loyalty. The man was Irish royalty.
"Eddie was a joy. Eddie brought joy. I will - we will - miss you. No one could keep up with you, in this life or the next."
The 76-year-old was a legend in his field and although he never drove in F1, he did race in F2, F3 and Formula Atlantic, as well as 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1981.
Ten years later he did finally make it to F1 with his Jordan Grand Prix team, and gave Michael Schumacher his F1 debut in 1991.
Jordan returned to F1 in 2009 as a pundit for BBC Sport's Grand Prix and later joined Channel 4 in 2016.
He had also been a regular pundit on Sky Sports over the years.
He was awarded an honorary OBE in recognition of his services to charity and motor racing in 2012.
In 2016 he joined the cast of presenters on Top Gear, who at the time included Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc.
Jordan made his final public appearance on live radio last month when he touchingly apologised after revealing he's "not himself" following a dose of cancer treatment.
The former F1 team owner was on talkSPORT discussing his takeover of rugby club London Irish.
Bono's wasn't the only Irish tribute paid to him on our TV screens over the last few days.
During the closing highlights package of RTE's broadcast of Ireland's 2-1 win over Bulgaria, viewers noticed the apt song choice of 'The Chain' by Fleetwood Mac.
That classic is of course synonymous with Formula One's heyday in the 1990s when it was the theme track to the BBC's coverage at every race.
Plenty of Irish ears immediately drew the connection between its instantly recognisable bassline and F1's news of the day which revolved around the death of the Irish innovator.
Ger Siggins posted: "Nice touch by RTÉ Sport to go out with 'The Chain' in an obvious nod to the late Eddie Jordan."
Similarly, Cormac O'Malley pondered: "Was that a nod to Eddie Jordan from RTÉ Sport at the end there?"
Lastly, Grace O'Sullivan praised: "Nice touch for RTE to play The Chain at the end of the footie coverage there!"
