Fiji’s rugby sevens future continues to shine brightly as two of its most exciting talents have earned nominations in the prestigious HSBC SVNS 2025 Awards, which will be presented at the highly anticipated SVNS World Championships and Series Playoffs in Los Angeles. Following a thrilling seven-leg global season, World Rugby has unveiled the nominees for the standout performers across the series. Among the elite are George Bose and Vika Nakacia, both of whom have made an indelible mark in their breakthrough campaigns for the men’s and women’s Fiji sevens teams respectively. George Bose – Men’s Rookie of the Year Nominee Rising star Bose has made a big impact in the 2024/25 season with his Fijian flare. After spending the previous season in the extended squad, he earned his international debut in Dubai. Bose has since cemented his place, ranking among the top 12 tacklers in the series. Bose finished the series on a high in Singapore having a big impact in the crucial semi-final against Argentina that booked their place in the final that they went on to win against Kenya. Vika Nakacia – Women’s Rookie of the Year Nominee Vika Nakacia emerged as one of the breakout stars of the women’s series, making her debut in Dubai at age 26, she brought a combination of speed, sharp footwork, and fearless attacking play. Nakacia capped her debut season with a stunning hat-trick against Great Britain in Singapore, while also leading the entire women’s circuit with 116 carries—the highest of any player. Try of the Year Nomination In addition to the individual honours, Vuiviwa Naduvalo has been nominated for the Men’s Try of the Year for his electric effort against France in Dubai. The winners will be announced during the SVNS World Championships and Series Playoffs, set to be staged at Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles, the same venue slated to host rugby sevens during the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
