Harrowing images have emerged showing a tech boss, his spouse, and their three children just before they perished in a horrific helicopter crash. Agustin Escobar and his family can be seen sharing a cheerful moment while standing on the helipad ahead of their sightseeing flight with New York Helicopter. Inside the ill-fated Bell 206 helicopter, the family beams at the camera, unaware that mere moments later the aircraft would plunge into the Hudson River in what would become one of New York Citys most tragic aviation disasters in nearly two decades. Thursday's crash claimed the lives of all five family members, making it one of the city's deadliest helicopter accidents in years. The poignant photos, which are now circulating online, are believed to be the last images captured of the Escobars together. In the wake of the tragedy, Michael Roth, CEO of New York Helicopters , expressed his devastation: "I'm absolutely devastated. "The only thing I know by watching a video of the helicopter falling down, that the main rotor blades weren't on the helicopter. And I haven't seen anything like that in my 30 years being in business, in the helicopter business." Reports suggest the Escobar family had arrived in New York City earlier that day and had eagerly scheduled the helicopter tour as one of their inaugural activities, reports the Mirror . Eyewitnesses described seeing the helicopter "split in half" as it descended near Pier 40, with some reporting an explosive noise resembling a " sonic boom." What precisely caused the Bell 206 to collapse from the sky remains unclear as investigations continue into the fateful demise of the Escobars' tour. Mr Escobar was a prominent figure in the business world, serving as President and CEO of Siemens Spain and CEO of Siemens Mobility Southwest Europe, a role he had held since December 2022. "He was a qualified industrial engineer, having graduated from Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid, and boasted over 25 years of international experience in the energy and transportation sectors, leading teams in the US, Latin America, and Spain. The identities of Escobar's wife and children have not been made public. The pilot, who also lost their life in the crash, has not been named by authorities. In the aftermath of the tragedy, President Donald Trump expressed his condolences to the victims' loved ones. In a message on Truth Social, Trump described the incident as a "terrible helicopter crash" and confirmed that Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and his team were investigating. The 78 year old world leader also promised that "announcements as to exactly what took place, and how, will be made shortly." The tragedy is the latest in a string to hit the United States airline industry.
