Finland scored their fourth victory in the first round of the Ice Hockey World Championship after beating Latvia by 2 goals to 1 in Avicii Arena, Stockholm, Sweden on Saturday.
Although Latvia lost the game, they fought against the former world champions very strongly and also created several chances.
Juuso Parssinen scored the first goal for the Lions at 28th minute and Mikko Lehtonen widened the gap at 51st minute to take 2-0 lead.
Rodrigo Abols scored the lone goal for Latvia at 56th minute and reduced the gap.
Finnish goalkeeper Juuse Saros made 20 saves while Latvian goalkeeper Kristers Gudlevskis made 28 saves.
Earlier the Lions beat Austria, France and Slovenia and lost to Sweden in the previous four matches.
Finland will play against Canada in their next match on Monday.
