LEGO has unveiled a brand new store in the Arndale - situated right next door to its original shop. Earlier this year, the brick toy giant announced that it would be relocating to a bigger unit with a host of brand new features and expansions, but an official opening date wasn’t revealed at the time. It has now been confirmed that the store is officially opening its doors on Thursday (June 12) at 9am. Still located on the lower ground of the city centre shopping centre, the new unit is bigger with improved experiences for fans that couldn't be offered at its previous unit of 15 years. Amongst its many new features, the new LEGO shop will feature a huge Pick a Brick wall where budding builders can seek out the exact blocks they need for their next project. There will also be the opportunity for fans to construct and take home their own minifigure from a host of heads, outfits, hair pieces and accessories - with many unique combinations to be made. In addition, the shop will form the base for free build challenges and events each month. One such event will be hosted on July 12 and 13 where people can build their own LEGO Boom Box and then take it home. The store will also be home to a team of Store Associates who will be able to help find the perfect items for those looking for an adventurous new build, or something to buy for someone special. The bigger space will also sell some of the latest LEGO products, including the brand new Simpsons: Krusty Burger, Shuttle Carrier Aircraft and Disney Pixar Luxo Jr. sets. It will also sell the latest Duplo, Lego Technic, Disney and Wicked kits.] Speaking about the new store, Shweta Munshi, Vice President of Marketing, LEGO Retail at the LEGO Group, said: “We are delighted to share that we are relocating our LEGO Store Arndale. “We are continually investing in our store portfolio and this new store will be a top retail destination for product launches and events, while acting as a hub for our LEGO community and new builders alike.” Steve Gray, Head of European Retail Asset Management at Global Mutual, joint asset managers of Manchester Arndale, added: “It is great to see the LEGO Group commit its long-term future to Manchester Arndale with a new larger store. “The LEGO Store is one of our most popular retailers and we expect their enhanced space will attract even more shoppers. The commitment of leading retailers such as the LEGO Group highlights the belief international brands have in Manchester Arndale which continues to attract visitors from across the North West and beyond.”
