Both teams have their ties finely poised after drawing their first-legs. The Red Devils welcome Lyon to Manchester whilst the north Londoners face a daunting trip to Frankfurt, who won this tournament back in 2022. Both have endured poor Premier League campaigns, but can salvage some pride with victory in this competition. On Wednesday night Arsenal produced a statement victory as they won at the Bernabeu, which helped them knockout Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate. That came after Aston Villa gave PSG a scare on Tuesday, eventually losing 5-4 on aggregate despite winning at Villa Park. Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Andre Onana will make his return to the United starting line-up against Lyon on Thursday night. It marks a swift recall for the goalkeeper, who missed the club's last match after the Portuguese coach decided to give him time to recover from a difficult week. He was omitted from squad that lost to Newcastle at the weekend, which came after the goalkeeper committed several errors during the Red Devils' Europa League draw with Lyon in the first-leg. Only a few days later though and Amorim feels as though he's ready to return. "I think as a former coach and a player, I try to do things that can help a player in this situation," he said in his press conference. "We talk about managing players physically, but we also have to manage them mentally. This week, my thinking was to put [Andre] Onana to play." Klopp is in the running for the Real Madrid job if Carlo Ancelotti is sacked. Ancelotti has endured a difficult year at the Bernabeu and could end the season trophyless. It has long looked as if Xabi Alonso, a former player at Real, would come to replace him. Already his exit from Bayer Leverkusen has been confirmed and he saw his stock rise when he led the German club to the double last term - the first time the club had ever achieved that feat. This year though he's been unable to replicate that success and Leverkusen suffered a shock defeat to third-division Arminia Bielefeld in the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal. According to Sport, that has led to doubts that Alonso is the right man for Madrid. It is understood that the possibility of moving for Klopp is 'gaining momentum' among Bernabeu bosses. Some close to president Florentino Perez are said to be suggesting Klopp could be the only candidate to fix their tactical issues. Gabon international striker Aaron Boupendza has died after falling off a building in China. Boupendza, 28, reportedly passed away after falling from the 11th floor. He was playing for Chinese side Zhejiang, having moved from Rapid Bucharest earlier this year. Former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang played with Boupendza for Gabon and has led the tributes. "I don't have the words," he wrote in French on Instagram with a picture of the two embracing on the picture. "Rest in peace my brother." Boupendza had made 35 appearances for Gabon since his debut in 2016, scoring eight goals. He featured in the Africa Cup of Nations for his country last year.
