Forgotten Celtic star Gustaf Lagerbielke was shock transfer target for four-time Champions League winners

HE swapped Sweden for Scotland when Celtic came calling in 2023 - then headed to the Netherlands last year.
But Gustaf Lagerbielke had the chance to move to the Eredivisie even sooner and could have found himself playing for Dutch giants Ajax instead of Celtic.
A former scout of the four-time Champions League winners has revealed the Swedish defender was on his radar back when he was a player at Elfsborg.
Lagerbielke, 24, had several clubs on his trail including Ajax and Celtic when he was in his homeland Sweden.
But he opted to join the Hoops after Brendan Rodgers made him a priority target at the tale end of the 2023 summer transfer window.
However, despite a promising start to his Celtic career - including a baptism of fire at Ibrox against Rangers - Lagerbielke quickly found himself frozen out at Parkhead.
Things started to turn sour for the defender after he was shown a red card in the Champions League against Feyenoord.
He then scored the winner against the Dutch side in the final game of the group, but it was a dead rubber with Celtic already knocked out.
This season Lagerbielke has been testing himself against the Dutch elite once again.
He joined FC Twente on loan for the season last summer and has been a key figure in their backline - both domestically and in Europe.
Twente have been that impressed with him that reports suggest they are keen to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.
It's understood they don't have an option to buy clause included in the deal though, preventing them from getting him on the cheap.
And former Ajax scout Hans van der Zee reckons he could be out of Twente's reach in the summer after rising to fame in the Netherlands this season.
Discussing the player's impact against Almere City FC on Sunday, the scout told 1Twente VoetbalTijd: "I thought he was a positive exception. He played well.
"I had him in mind for Ajax at one point, when he was still playing for Elfsborg. At that point he went to Celtic.
"They paid £3million for him. I don't think he did well at Celtic, otherwise they wouldn't rent him out. You won't get him for less than three million."
