Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end and former Oregon Ducks star Arik Armstead made sure to do a proper “Duuuval” cheer by drawing out the first syllable before announcing the selection of Travis Hunter at the NFL draft Thursday in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
The “Duuuval” chant, a reference to the Florida county that includes Jacksonville, has been popular among Jaguars fans for years.
New Jaguars coach Liam Coen’s introductory news conference went viral for the wrong reasons when he failed to draw out that first syllable while making a “Duval” cheer that drew criticism on social media.
Armstead announced the No. 2 pick after being recognized by Commissioner Roger Goodell as the 2024 winner of the NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year award.
