Police on Saturday arrested four men in connection with the killing of a 21-year-old outside the Juvenile Court in Red Hills on Thursday. The deceased, identified as Mohammed Ayan Qureshi, was attacked with knives and a cricket bat on Thursday while he was returning from a court hearing. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after the assault, according to the Nampally police.
A tip-off led the police to the whereabouts of the accused, identified as Syed Mahmood Quadri alias Osama Quadri alias Muzaffer, Mohammed Aslam, Md. Siddiq Ahmed, and Syed Majid Quadri alias Mateen, who were picked up the same day. The accused were allegedly nursing a grudge over a family feud dating back several years.
According to inspector K Narayana Reddy, Ayan’s sister married the younger brother of one of the accused in 2016. “A fallout between the families escalated into violence, and in 2020, Ayan and his relatives were reportedly involved in a murder case. The accused are believed to have been seeking revenge since then,” the Inspector added.
The police seized two knives, four mobile phones, and a scooter as part of the investigation. The accused were produced before court and remanded to judicial custody.
