Fresh twist emerges around Jack Crowley’s future as Munster contract negotiations come to a head
@Source: thesun.ie
THE latest indications are that Jack Crowley is set to snub Leicester Tigers' big-money offer and instead STAY at Munster. The Irish Independent report that he looks set to stay in the Irish system and continue to fight for the national ten jersey. The Premiership outfit have tabled a three-year offer with a bumper annual salary of €700k to the 25-year-old. However, it appears he remains steadfast in wanting to remain in Ireland and will pass up the chance to make a couple hundred thousand more per year by signing an extension with The Reds. Only 24 hours previously, Munster skills coach Mossy Lawler said there was no update on Crowley's contract situation. Speaking on RTE Radio, he said: "Yeah, look, no update on Jack yet. "But it’s something from a rugby department point of view we haven’t focused on. "Jack has come in this week full of beans like he always is, ready to play. "We’re just worrying about Jack Crowley the rugby player as opposed to what happens off the pitch." He was then asked if there was a timeline for an update, but stated that it all remains very much up in the air. He concluded: "Unfortunately not. Hopefully it will be imminent that we get news soon but look - as I say - I know everybody wants to know but we are just focusing on the game ahead. "Jack will obviously be involved this week so that will be our focal point." Munster face inter-provincial rivals Connacht this Saturday in the United Rugby Championship. That familiar match-up will have a novel factor around it in that it's being played at the home of Mayo GAA - MacHale Park. Crowley was among several returning internationals this week. Conor Murray, Tadhg Beirne, Peter O'Mahony and Calvin Nash also returned to the fold after being granted extra time off after the climax of Ireland’s Six Nations campaign. In further good news for Munster, Craig Casey, Jean Kleyn, Jack O'Donoghue and Thaakir Abrahams have also returned to full training after spells on the sidelines through injury.
