TV presenter Gabby Logan's daughter Lois has said that her mother really wanted her to become a tennis player rather than go into showjumping. Lois Logan , 19, is the daughter of gymnast and BBC star Gabby, father of former Scottish rugby player Kenny Logan , and brother to current professional rugby player Reuben. Speaking to Hello! magazine, she talked about how her mother had tried and failed to get her into tennis and how now Lois wishes she had tried harder and persisted. She admitted: “My mum wanted me to be a tennis player. She was like: ‘I really, really tried, but you didn’t want to’. Now I say to her: ‘I wish you’d pushed me harder to do tennis, because I could have been a really good player by now.’” However, Lois’ love for horses reportedly came from her mother and the fact there wasn’t much to do when they moved to Buckinghamshire. She remembered: “We had no friends, we didn’t know the area, we didn’t have anything to do at the weekend. She said: ‘You can learn to play chess, ballroom dance, or ride a horse.” Later this month Lois will be competing in the Markel Magnolia Cup at the Qatar Goodwood Festival, at a venue just up the road from Goodwood’s famous motor circuit. Lois added that the training for the event had been especially tough as she was balancing it with her studies at Loughborough University where she is studying geography. Whilst Lois has listened keenly to her mother, it is through her father that she has had the opportunity to meet fellow horse lovers Zara Tindall and Princess Anne . Speaking about what it was like to meet them, she said: “Zara is lovely; we talk about horses….[Princess Anne] really likes my dad; he’s done a lot for her charities.” Whilst Zara and Lois share a love for horses, it was one event at a horse-related event that reportedly caused the former to get annoyed with her husband Mike Tindall when he bid on the last horse of the evening. Zara told Closer about what happened with Mike suddenly started raising his hand made a shock bid for a horse. She said: “He'd had a few beers. It was the last lot of the night, Mikey put his hand up and that was it. He was left buying this horse for £12,000.” Mike ended up buying the horse, named Monbeg Dude, with some friends and to Zara’s surprise, it won. She added: “Annoyingly, it did not backfire. He got three mates involved and the horse ended up winning the Welsh Grand National and came third in the Grand National. I was so annoyed.” Gabby Logan will present the BBC's coverage of England v Sweden at the Women's UEFA Euro 2025. It starts at 7pm on BBC One tonight (Thursday, July 17).
