Gaza Municipality: Complete Collapse of Water and Sanitation Services Amid Ongoing Israeli Aggression
@Source: qna.org.qa
Gaza, June 15 (QNA) - The Municipality of Gaza City announced that the ongoing Israeli aggression destroyed over 810 kilometers of roads, 175,000 meters of sewage networks, and 115,000 meters of water networks, in addition to demolishing 63 water wells and 8 major pumping stations, leading to a complete collapse of water and sanitation services.
In a statement today, the municipality said this systematic destruction has severely damaged the city's municipal infrastructure - the backbone of essential services such as water and sewage systems, waste collection, road access, and the operation of key facilities like water wells and treatment plants. It also reported the destruction of 134 service vehicles, representing 85 percent of its operational fleet, paralyzing its ability to deliver basic services amid severe shortages of fuel, oil, and spare parts.
The municipality warned that the lack of equipment and energy is worsening the humanitarian and health situation in the city and hindering efforts to provide even the bare minimum for survival. It called on all international and humanitarian organizations to urgently intervene and supply the emergency needs for 2025 to help mitigate the catastrophic conditions facing Gaza.
The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip continues to deteriorate, exacerbated by the Israeli occupation's persistent blockade on humanitarian aid, continued bombardment across all areas, and destruction of remaining medical facilities, service centers, and displacement shelters. (QNA)
