Australian cricketer Georgia Voll has made it to the Women's Hundred draft, marking her debut in the prestigious tournament. She was signed by Birmingham Phoenix after other franchises like Oval Invincibles, Welsh Fire, and London Spirit used their right-to-match option to retain their players Paige Scholfield, Sophia Dunkley, and Heather Knight, respectively. Notably, these three players now belong to the top women's salary bracket at £65,000. Here's more. Voll, who made her international debut just recently in December, has been in phenomenal form. She managed scores of 55 and an unbeaten 99 as a last-minute addition to the Women's Premier League (WPL) side UP Warriorz. This was after Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu departed for international duty. Along with Voll, Birmingham Phoenix also has all-rounder Ellyse Perry and bowler Megan Schutt from Australia in their overseas roster. As mentioned, the Aussie batter was called up as a last-minute replacement and did not disappoint. Although she featured in just three of UP's innings, she finished 15th in the list of highest run scorers. Meanwhile, she smashed 154 runs at 77, including a strike rate of 167.39, and a highest score of 99*. Notably, her knock of 99* (56 balls) is currently the joint-highest score in WPL history, sharing the feat with Devine, who set it in 2023. Fast bowler Issy Wong has moved from Birmingham Phoenix to London Spirit. Wong, who made her international debut at 20 in 2022, represented Phoenix in the tournament's first four editions. However, she struggled with her run-up, resulting in limited appearances, and was released in 2023 after featuring just five times. Despite the struggles, Spirit bagged Wong for £16,000 in the draft. Reigning champions Southern Brave used their first draft pick at £36,000 to secure Sophie Devine. Devine opted out of this year's WPL and New Zealand's home series against Sri Lanka for a well-being break. She last played competitively on January 24 for Wellington in the Women's Super Smash. She will be joined by South African all-rounder Chloe Tryon, who returned to the franchise for £20,000. West Indies star Deandra Dottin is returning to Manchester Originals for £50,000. Dottin had played for the team in 2022 and 2023. Young wicketkeeper-batter Seren Smale is also joining her from Birmingham Phoenix for £36,000. This move adds depth to the Originals's squad as they prepare for the upcoming tournament. Paige Scholfield has re-signed with Oval Invincibles, which could mark the return of her international career. She was picked for England's tour of South Africa last year, but returned home without playing due to an ankle injury during training. In last year's Hundred, Scholfield scored 190 runs at a strike rate of 137.68, with a top score of 71 off 40 balls.
