Corporal Dunstan Guba of the Ghana Police Service has secured a silver medal, finishing in 3rd place at the INTERPOL Digital Security Challenge 2025, held at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The intense three-day, non-stop Capture the Flag (CTF) competition brought together elite white-hat hackers from the law enforcement sector across over 60 countries.
Corporal Guba expressed his pride in representing Ghana and the Ghana Police Service, highlighting the opportunity to demonstrate the country’s offensive and defensive cyber capabilities in the fight against cybercrime on an international stage.
“I was honored to have represented Ghana and the Ghana Police Service and demonstrated our offensive and defensive cyber capabilities in fighting cybercrime on an international stage,” he wrote in a Facebook post.
The Digital Security Challenge, a prestigious event aimed at enhancing the skills of law enforcement personnel in digital forensics and cybersecurity, tested participants’ abilities in a simulated environment.
Corporal Guba’s achievement underscores Ghana’s growing proficiency in cybercrime prevention and response, aligning with the country’s efforts to strengthen its cyber security framework.
Ghana’s participation in such international forums is part of broader initiatives supported by global partnerships, including the Council of Europe’s Global Action on Cybercrime Extended (GLACY+) project.
The project has previously facilitated Ghana’s involvement in similar events, such as the 2024 Digital Security Challenge in Cebu, Philippines, where Ghanaian participants contributed to a team that placed 3rd.
Corporal Guba’s success at the 2025 challenge adds to Ghana’s track record in international cyber security competitions, reflecting the nation’s commitment to combating cyber threats.
The INTERPOL Digital Security Challenge continues to be a critical platform for fostering collaboration and skill development among global law enforcement agencies, with Ghana’s strong showing this year highlighting its emerging role in the global cyber security landscape.
