The Giants on Saturday re-signed punter Jamie Gillan to a three-year contract worth up to $10.2 million per year, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
The 27-year-old, nicknamed the “Scottish Hammer,” has been the Giants’ punter since 2022 when he signed a two-year $4 million contract after a practice squad stint with the Buffalo Bills.
He is the team’s holder on point after and field goal attempts too.

Gillan, an undrafted free agent who started his career with the Browns in 2019, only began playing American football in 2013, when he moved from Scotland (where he was a successful rugby athlete) to Leonardtown, Maryland. He played college football at Arkansas Pine-Bluff, where he punted a total of 9,024 yards on 214 punts and averaged 42.2 yards per punt.
In six NFL seasons, Gillan has 17,281 total punt yards on 381, which averages out to 45.4 yards per punt. He logged 2,448 punt yards last season with an average of 43.7 yards per punt.

He missed four games last season due to a left hamstring injury. He played all 17 games the previous two seasons.
He has gotten his money’s worth with the Giants, who went 3-14 last season and were terrible on offense. He punted 56 times last season.
