Giovanni Pernice hits back at claims he's struggling to sell tour tickets

Giovanni Pernice has slashed ticket prices for his latest stage show amid reports he's struggling to sell seats.
The 34-year-old professional dancer has been battling negative headlines since the winter of 2023 after he endured an explosive falling out with Strictly Come Dancing celebrity partner Amanda Abbington. Following the 2023 season, Amanda accused Giovanni of unprofessional behaviour - allegations he furiously denied and of which he was largely cleared following a BBC investigation.
The affair drew a dark cloud over his career in the UK, which saw him walk away from his time on the dance reality show and embrace new challenges away from cameras. This year, he has been on the road with his stage show, titled The Last Dance, however it is being suggested he is struggling to sell all of his tickets.
It is being reported that he had dropped prices to just £15 in order to try and entice audience members - where tickets had previously been valued between £36 and £135. The entire run of the show should see him perform 50 dates across a number of venues across the UK - with the climax set to take place in the London Palladium theatre on 4 May.
The Sun reports: "[Giovanni is] struggling to sell tickets and has slashed prices. His Last Dance Tour date for Birmingham's Symphony Hall on Saturday has appeared on discounted website Central Tickets." A spokesperson for the tour has rubbished The Sun's claims, however, stating that changing ticket prices is perfectly common during a tour.
The producer of Giovanni’s tour told The Mirror: "Different venues have certain ticket promotions as the shows approach to sell restricted view or balcony seats. We would not regard this as slashing ticket prices and is the case on the majority of touring shows."
The Giovanni Pernice The Last Dance Show is billed as: "Giovanni, the Italian maestro of dance, takes centre stage in ‘The Last Dance’, a mesmerising production that transcends the boundaries of live performance. With a career rooted in passion, dedication, and unparalleled artistry, Giovanni has become a household name, captivating audiences worldwide with his electrifying performances and unmatched charisma."
Fans have reacted positively to the shows that Giovanni has completed so far - with one writing on Instagram: "Saw you tonight in Oxford. What a show! You are a fantastic performer! You never disappoint. Wish I could see you again!" While another typed: "No one compares to you."
Reports of struggling ticket sales come as Giovanni's former Strictly co-star Anton Du Beke explained why he stood by the star during his troubles. The pair were on the road together last summer, while Giovanni was in the midst of the investigation - but the audiences that came to watch them cheered loudly for the then under-fire star.
Reflecting on this moment in time, Anton told the Daily Mail on Friday: "I was delighted, to be honest. I was pleased that we were together on tour because if he was locked in a hotel room or his flat on his own, with nothing to do, having to cope with all that on his own, it could have been a different outcome."
Asked if it was a welcome distraction for Giovanni, Anton confirmed: "Well, to a degree. It's never far away from the surface, you know? What I do know is it was a very difficult time for him and I'm glad he spent it with me and the company, rather than on his own. That was all I could do – to be a friend – I would have taken him off to the golf apart from the fact he was awful at it – it might have made him feel worse! So instead we just did a show."
