Girls golf: Princeton continues strong season with sweep of CVC Championships

It has been a season to remember for Princeton and senior Jacqueline Zang after sweeping the Colonial Valley Conference Championships at Mountain View Golf Course in Ewing.
“This championship reflects the collective commitment of our players, coaches, and supporters,” Princeton head coach Jess Monzo said. “We are incredibly proud of this accomplishment and excited to see what we can do at sectionals on Monday, with the end goal being the state championships the following week.”
Princeton finished with a score of 339 to beat out West Windsor-Plainsboro South by 38 strokes. Zang also eked out a victory over Allentown’s Charlotte Reid, shooting a 75 to win by three strokes.
“It was a testament to the incredible talent, dedication, and determination displayed by each of my young golfers,” Monzo said. “A special congratulations goes out to Jackie Zang, who earned first place overall with a stellar performance that exemplified leadership and consistency. Her efforts set the tone for the entire team.”
Zang led the Tigers to victory in all three of their tournaments so far this season, placing first in the Red Devil Invitational and Lady Bombers Tee-Off Classic.
It was a well-rounded effort from Princeton as Kyuyoung Chung finished fifth with an 85, while Alice Ye was sixth with an 86. Shreya Gaekwad also came in ninth with a 93, while Yasna Shahriarian was 13th with a 96.
“I’d also like to recognize Kyuyoung Chung, whose impressive play earned her a fifth-place finish, further strengthening the team’s dominant showing,” Monzo continued. “Key contributions from Alice Ye, Yasna Shahriarian, and Shreya Gaekwad played a crucial role in securing the overall team victory. Their focus and skill were instrumental throughout the tournament. We don’t win as a team unless every player brings their best, and they certainly did.”
Hightstown’s Gia Vitelli came in third place with an 81, while Princeton Day’s Ryan Falconi was fourth with an 82.
Yeshika Bhansalo led West Windsor-Plainsboro South to a second-place finish, shooting a 90 to come in seventh.
Allentown placed third with a 394, while Notre Dame was fourth with a 403. Windsor-Plainsboro North rounded out the top five with a 405.
