Panaji: In a major move towards enhancing healthcare infrastructure, the Goa state cabinet on Wednesday approved the recruitment of 270 new posts under the Directorate of Health Services. The initiative aims to address the rising demand for healthcare professionals and improve the overall quality of health facilities across the state.The decision includes a variety of roles, such as specialists, consultants, and technical staff, all to be appointed on a contract basis for an initial period of one year or until the positions are permanently filled, whichever is earlier. This recruitment initiative comes in response to the growing demand for healthcare professionals in the state and is expected to significantly improve the quality of public health services offered by the state’s medical institutions.Also Read: RMLIMS Appoints 166 Doctors in largest recruitment driveThe council of ministers further resolved to relax the upper age limit for consultants from 45 years to 60 years, in case of no or fewer applications, reports TOI.This recent initiative by the Goa government is part of a larger, long-term vision aimed at improving the efficiency of the state’s healthcare system.Also Read: Goa to set up Expert Panel to Elevate Standards at GMCHMedical Dialogues had previously reported that to enhance the healthcare services on par with international standards, the Goa government has decided to constitute an advisory board of experts from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the World Health Organisation (WHO), the Union Government, and specialists from across the country. This board will monitor the functioning of the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Located at Bambolim near Panaji, the GMCH is Goa’s largest government-run hospital with more than 1,000 beds, and caters to patients from adjoining regions of Maharashtra and Karnataka. In response to increasing patient footfall at GMCH, the government aims to upgrade the hospital's services and overall functionality, striving to bring it up to the standards of international healthcare systems.
