Japanese golfer Mao Saigo will tee off the final round of the Chevron Championship tied for the lead with South Korea's Ryu Hae Ran after shooting a 3-under 69 on Saturday.
Contending for her maiden LPGA title, the 23-year-old Saigo moved up one place with four birdies against one bogey to sit at 9-under after the penultimate round of the first women's major of the year.
Ryu, a two-time LPGA winner bidding for her first major, shot 68, while Lindy Duncan of the United States carded 70 to finish the day outright third at 8-under.
Saigo chipped in for birdie on the par-5 13th to get to 9 under, then parred the last five holes at The Club at Carlton Woods. She also chipped in for birdie on No. 6.
"It was a tough day with difficult course conditions and not many easy birdies," said Saigo, the 2024 LPGA rookie of the year.
"Two were chip-in birdies, so I was lucky. I want to stay focused with each shot to win the championship."
