The government has disbursed Rs 21,534 crore under its Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for 12 sectors, the commerce and industry ministry said on Wednesday. The scheme was introduced in 2021 to support domestic manufacturing across 14 sectors with an outlay of Rs 1.97 lakh crore. The 12 sectors that received incentives include Large-Scale Electronics Manufacturing, IT Hardware, Bulk Drugs, Medical Devices, Pharma, Telecom, Food Processing, White Goods, Automobiles, Specialty Steel, Textiles and Drones. "Cumulative incentive amount of Rs 21,534 crore has been disbursed under PLI schemes for 12 sectors," the ministry said. Reviewing the scheme, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal called on departments to draw up a roadmap for the next five years for both investments and disbursements. According to the ministry, the scheme has already attracted investments worth Rs 1.76 lakh crore. It has led to production and sales worth Rs 16.5 lakh crore and created over 12 lakhs direct and indirect jobs until March 2025.Live Events In the pharma sector, the scheme has resulted in sales worth Rs 2.66 lakh crore over three years, including Rs 1.70 lakh crore from exports. The sector has achieved a domestic value addition of 83.70% as of March 2025. In bulk drugs, the scheme has contributed to making India a net exporter. In 2021-22, India was a net importer of bulk drugs worth Rs 1,930 crore. Now it has become a net exporter with Rs 2,280 crore in shipments. Exports of Indian Man-Made Fibre (MMF) textiles have risen to USD 6 billion in 2024-25, up from USD 5.7 billion in 2023-24, the ministry said.(You can now subscribe to our Economic Times WhatsApp channel)
