Thirty of the best golfers on the planet will look to claim the FedEx Cup as the season-long champion.Yet, veteran Harris English is still over the moon about another accomplishment.Team USA's six automatic qualifying spots were determined after last week's BMW Championship, where Scottie Scheffler won yet again.English tied for 12th at 3-under, jumping from sixth to fifth in the Ryder Cup rankings. He passed Bryson DeChambeau, who only garners points through majors with LIV Golf still left out in the cold.On the eve of the Tour Championship teeing off, English was asked his thoughts on not having to wait for a captain's pick."Making that Ryder Cup team on points was a big goal of mine. I was a captain's pick back in 2021, so making that team on points and finishing fifth just makes me believe that I belong."I'm a big part of that team, and I love being around those guys, and we had some great conversations. We're going to grow a lot closer the next few weeks, and getting all prepared for Bethpage."Four years ago, the Americans decimated Team Europe 19-9 at Whistling Straits. But this year is sure to be a much bigger challenge.Camaraderie and cohesion are extremely important at the Ryder Cup.Hence on Tuesday night, the six members who have automatically qualified for the team (Scheffler, English, JJ Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Bryson DeChambeau) all had dinner together for the first time."Yeah, dinner was great. We had some good conversations. It was good to get everybody in the room and had some of the stats guys there, and get everybody thinking the same way and getting everybody's thoughts."Team USA is looking to rebound after an embarrassing loss at the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome, Italy.
