Harry Maguire admits 'a lot of players will leave' Manchester United
@Source: manchestereveningnews.co.uk
Harry Maguire expects "a lot of players" to leave Manchester United this summer. United are receptive to offers for just about any player in their squad and there is mounting speculation that captain Bruno Fernandes could lead an exodus amid interest from Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal. Alejandro Garnacho has been told by head coach Ruben Amorim he can leave , while the permanent departures of fellow forwards Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho have been prioritised . Maguire had his contract extended until 2026 earlier this year and he captained United for the first time since he was stripped of the armband two years ago in their 1-0 post-season tour defeat to ASEAN All-Stars on Wednesday. The 32-year-old was substituted at half-time so he could fly to Mumbai with teammates Andre Onana and Diogo Dalot to attend commercial activities. At a press conference in India, Maguire said he hoped "a lot of players will come in". "We will make a lot of changes in the summer at the club," Maguire promised. "There will be a lot of players who leave and hopefully a lot of players will come in. "And that’s down to the club to make sure they get that right and it’s down to us players to make sure that we are the ones that are involved." United will sign playmaker Matheus Cunha from Wolves in a £62.5million deal but Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap has opted to join Chelsea . There were boos at full-time after United lost in Kuala Lumpur, where they failed to score again as the Maybank Challenge Cup eluded them. Maguire, who was cheered loudly in the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, was not present to hear the full-time reaction and admitted "the whole world jumps" on United whenever they are in crisis. “Each player has to take responsibility," he added. "This season has not been good, we know the criticism is going to be there and we have to accept it. It’s part and parcel of playing for one of the biggest in the world. “When you play for Manchester United and have a bad year, the scrutiny just comes and comes... The whole world jumps on it, not just the Manchester United fans. The others as well. It can spiral.” Here at the Manchester Evening News, we're dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and analysis.
