Hearts ace stakes claim for Celtic clash with four goal blitz in closed doors friendly

Alan Forrest served a reminder to Neil Critchley by netting FOUR goals as Hearts beat St Johnstone in a closed-doors friendly at the Oriam on Tuesday. Cammy Devlin also made a welcome return to action having missed the past five weeks after being concussed in the Scottish Cup win at St Mirren last month. Forrest hasn’t started a league game since December and is without a competitive goal since October. But the winger was on fire in a 4-1 bounce game win against Simo Valakari’s Saints as both sides gave their fringe men a run out during the international break. January signing Harry Milne got a first run out for Hearts , out of favour Barrie McKay and Yutaro Oda also featured and Yan Dhanda, Musa Drammeh and Calem Nieuwenhof got much needed minutes. Critchley is now hoping his international stars including Craig Gordon , James Wilson, Kenneth Vargas and Gerald Taylor return without any knocks as the Jambos prepare for three massive games ahead of the split starting at Celtic Park next week. He said: “The players will get some days off over international break, but there'll be some training as well. Hopefully, fingers crossed, touch wood, the players who are going away on international duty come back in good health and we can go and attack the game at Parkhead.”
