YUTARO ODA has quit Hearts to return to Japan with Shonan Bellmare. The striker joined the Jambos two years ago and played over 50 games for the Tynecastle club. But he has struggled for game time since Neil Critchley’s arrival in Gorgie. And the Hearts boss reckons the fresh start in the J1 League could help the 23-year-old flourish. He said: “Yutaro goes back to Japan with our best wishes. “He’s a young player who wants to play but he’s been unfortunate with injuries of late and has found it difficult to work his way back into contention. “Sometimes a fresh start is required, and this move gives him that opportunity, so we thank him for his time at Hearts and wish him good luck for the future.” Oda joined Hearts from Vissel Kobe in January 2023. He had been a teammate of Kyogo Furuhashi at the J.League club, with Kyogo moving to Celtic 18 months previously. Oda's first goal for the Jambos saw him strike in an Edinburgh derby against Hibs in May 2023 that ended in a 1-1 draw. He would go on to score seven times across 53 games for the club. Hearts, meanwhile, will be coming up against a new face in the opposition goal this coming weekend. Viljami Sinisalo will be between the sticks for Celtic in Saturday's Scottish Premiership clash at Parkhead. It'll be the 23-year old's first league appearance for the Hoops, eight months after joining from Aston Villa. Regular Hoops No1 Kasper Schmeichel was injured on international duty and is expected to be missing for a period of time.
